Since we are focusing on creative ways to use patterned paper, I thought I'd post this simple little tip about how to make ruffles. Here is an example of how I made ruffles on this page.

and here's a better closeup of my ruffles:

I came up with the ruffle idea because of little Myah's adorable swimsuit. I loved how her little panties had ruffles on them so I decided to mimic those ruffles on this paper. The particular My Minds Eye patterned paper made making the ruffles absolutely simple. I took the scallops in the paper and trimmed off a 3/4 inch piece of that paper and then I took my Fiskars micro-tip scissors (which I can not live without) and just followed the scallop and trimmed it. Then I repeated it again...and again...until I had enough layers of my ruffles. I attached the ruffled strips together with adhesive just at the top so I could lightly distress and curl the scallops to make it look more like ruffles. Voila! There you have it. It's very easy. You don't have to have a patterned paper with the scallops already in it. You can actually use another patterned paper and make your scallops free-style for a different look.

So, have fun with your next patterned paper, and try some ruffles for extra texture and dimension on your page.
