I thought I'd share this, as I am one of those people who doesn't own a sewing machine, so hand sewing is my only option. Now its not something I do alot of, but when I do I always do it this way to make it easier.

Great tips Sandie! Sometimes I skip sewing altogether because it's such a hassle to drag out my sewing machine. Truthfully it's more the digging thru all the shtuff in the closet to find my machine that sets me back. I'll have to remember this tip and try it the next time. Thanks for sharing!

I tried to sew with my machine on paper and it was a MESS!! One of these days, I want to practice some and get the hang of it. I actually can sew but it's so much different sewing on paper!! Love doing hand sewing though! Great tips Sandie!

I've sewed with the machine too.... and it can get messy... I prefer hand stitching.. with regular thread....and I am LOVING the heavier more dimensional "floss" look....

Great tips Sandie!!......another thing I like to do is put a little foam pad under the l/o when I'm putting in my needle marks in preparation for hand stitching.
I've done both machine stitching and hand sewing on my l/o's and I have to agree, I tend more often than not to do hand stitching, getting my machine out and prepped seems to much work sometimes.....I'm trying to set up a spot in my office/scraprooms so I can leave my machine out so it's handier. A good tip for machine stitching is try to use a longer stitch rather than the tinier ones, they can sometimes get so small they tear the paper. -------------------- |

I have tried many times to stich with me machine and tear up the paper and then just gave up but after reading this set of tips I might try it again. Here is my question; Do you have need to use the smallest needle for sewing with the smallest thread? Should I line the back of the paper or L/O with a webbing so it catches better and not rip through the paper? Elle |

One thing I've noticed is that you have to:
a. Make sure the tension on your machine isn't too tight. If it's tight, it will definitely tear your paper b. Make sure you aren't sewing through adhesvie or it can gum up your machine c. Don't go too fast!! -------------------- I blog at http://kittymama.blogspot.com/
